Social Anxiety Treatment

Social anxiety treatment… I was wondering if there is a way of stopping my social anxiety without the drugs

Are you embarrassed of telling someone that you are suffering from social anxiety? Well, a certain amount of anxiety is natural for all of us. It is tagged as social anxiety disorder only after the level of anxiety begins to affect your general well-being and makes you focus your life around those social phobias.

Generalized social anxiety disorder typically involves a persistent, intense, chronic fear of being judged by others and of being embarrassed or humiliated by one's own actions

Have your experience fear on those situations:
  • Talking in meetings or classes
  • Public speaking
  • Writing in front of others
  • Participating in sports or working out in front of others
  • Initiating or maintaining conversation with strangers
  • Being assertive (e.g., refusing to give in to unreasonable requests, asking others to change their behavior)
  • Performing music or acting on stage
  • Making mistakes in front of others
  • Being in public areas such as a shopping mall or a bus
  • Going to a party
  • Inviting friends over for dinner
  • Talking to people in authority (e.g., boss, professor, doctor)
  • Returning items to a store or sending food back in a restaurant

Imagine going through your whole life constantly fearing others opinions of you, saying things just seek the approval of your peers and being scared to go out in public for fear people are scrutinising your every move.

According to the National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)
Approximately 15 million American adults age 18 and over, or about 6.8 percent of people in this age group in a given year, have social phobia.

Social phobia begins in childhood or adolescence, typically around 13 years of age

There are a number of medications and treatments to cure social anxiety
